Overview
Case Study: Royal Mail Group - Project Light
The Challenge
Royal Mail Group had a vision to communicate with every outlet across the country within their estate, streaming live and recorded information, within specified time parameters. They approached Romec's National Projects Group (NPG) to bring their vision to life.
The Solution
Romec's NPG team got to work on this aptly named Project Light, installing power and data to media screens in 2,300 outlets, sending communications through a live network to reach every staff member at the same time at a push of a button. Complex data surveys and installations were completed at sites with multi-screens. NPG managed all asbestos related issues and did all the enabling works to ensure the offices were left as good as new after the installations. NPG added further value by rectifying existing problems, which meant there was a no blame culture in the service delivery, a solution that everyone was happy with.
The Results
This project was considered the largest media tool installation within the specified time and numbers in Europe. The main objective was to do this within a strict timescale, in order to avoid holding up third party contractors. NPG were the obvious choice due to their reputation, their understanding of Royal Mail Group's environment and health and safety requirements and their quality waste control measures. NPG were able to deliver the project within the specified timescales with a no-nonsense, low issues approach, full UK coverage and the ability to manage and maintain project control. The team provided flexible resourcing at Royal Mail Group's discretion, an immediate cost saving solution. This project has expanded as a result of working in partnership with Royal Mail Group. Implementation Moves and Changes (IMAC) was created by the customer and awarded to Romec, so any screen changes within the Royal Mail Group estate now come to the National Projects Group team. Thanks to the success of Project Light this is now the case for all of Royal Mail Group's current and future installations.
