Romec 'thinks strawberries' to help deliver World Class Service
Office managers at facilities management company Romec have been learning the sales principle of "Think Strawberries" at a series of workshops to help ensure they offer World Class Service.
The 100-strong team were taught how they should be pro-active in cross-selling Romec's products and services by letting customers and clients know directly what is available.
Think Strawberries stems from a hotel in 1973, in New York, and how the chief executive, James Levenson, changed the company's culture by getting every member of staff to think of themselves as salespeople.
Pat Rigby, Romec General Manager, said: "Part of this saw diners being offered a second drink during their meal, but when this wasn't extended with the dessert he was told that it was because people weren't eating them because 'everyone's on a diet'.
"He suggested bringing the sweet trolley to the table uninvited, with the healthy strawberry option on the top. This saw an amazing $250,000 worth of strawberries sold in just six months."
"Think Strawberries is a reminder to each employee that the growth and success of Romec relies on everyone's efforts to ask for more sales. Salesmanship has to be a part of every job.
"Doing simple things to promote the business will have measurable benefits in the long run for all our employees, and the success of Romec."
