Manager flies flag for GB at karate world championships

A product manager at facilities management services company Romec has returned home from Athens after representing Great Britain at the Shotokan Karate International World Championships.

Mike Davidson, 40, who is the company's Fire & Security Product Manager, has been practising his art for 20 years and is now a 4th dan.

The GB team came 10th in the medals table during the four-day event.

Two years ago Mike, who lives in Peterborough, represented the nation at the European Championships, in Sardinia, and has achieved silver and bronze medals at recent national championships.

In Athens he was competing in the Master Class 1 category in the 40-44 age group in the individual fighting, individual Kata and team fighting events.

Mike, who is married with daughter, said: "It was a tremendous honour to be selected to compete at the highest level, and an excellent experience to draw from in the future"
