Success On A Plate At Print Solutions

Romec Print Solutions has invested in its first automated computer to plate system, improving prepress production, speeding up its print operation as well as reducing the use of chemicals.

Using Screen’s PlateRite 4300 Romec means that artwork goes straight from the computer to the plates used in the printing process. Previously artwork would be transferred on to film, similar to old-fashioned film processing for photographs. These films would then be used to create the printing plates used in the printing process.

The move to the CtP system allows us to double plate production which means we can increase productivity on our single and full-colour presses, said Head of Print Solutions, Pete Mendham. We’ve also saved on buying and disposing of chemicals, all of which allows us to be even more competitive.
