Romec Print Solutions Secures Environmental Standards
National facilities management company, Romec, has secured registration to the ISO14001 Environmental Standards for its Print Solutions division.
Registration to the ISO14001 standard followed a two-day audit carried out earlier this year by the British Standards Institute at Romec’s print and mail operation in Swindon.
The ISO 14001 standards recognise companies that establish, document, implement, maintain and continually improve their environmental management systems in line with international standards.
“Working in print we are acutely aware that there are lots of ways in which we can help create a better environment,” said Romec’s Print Solutions Manager, Peter Mendham. “Everything from sourcing paper, inks and packaging from responsible suppliers, controlling the use of materials during the print process and disposal and recycling of waste, have all been put under the spotlight.”
As well as ensuring paper and board used is from sustainable sources, Print Solutions also ensures the chemicals and inks used – including silver and aluminium – are collected and disposed of responsibly.
Peter added: “We find that we are able to advise customers on how to create high quality printed material such as business stationery, brochures, leaflets and direct mail material, while still being environmentally responsible.”
Registration to the environmental standard ISO 14001 is an addition to the registrations Romec holds to the internationally recognised standards ISO 9001 quality standard, OHSAS 18001 health and safety standard and Investor in People.
“Recognition of our efforts in ensuring our approach to quality is important,” said Romec’s Quality Manager, Graham Evans. “It not only shows that we work to robust policies and procedures, it is also reassurance to customers that they are dealing with a responsible and well run organisation.
“Our focus for 2006 is on securing the ISO14001 environmental standards for the rest of Romec and making sure we build on the good work already done in achieving the other standards.”
