Prêt A Manger
The Challenge
The first Prêt A Manger outlet opened in London in 1986 and today you can find around 150 shops throughout the UK. A new delivery service offering sandwiches, baguettes and breakfast platters for meetings and parties was due to be launched and Prêt required a bespoke trolley for the service.
The Solution
By chance, a Prêt A Manger employee spotted a Romec-built mail delivery trolley in action on the streets of London and realised that a similar piece of equipment could be just was they needed. Romec was soon tasked with modifying the trolley to provide the manoeuvrability, accessibility and capacity to carry food, delivery bags and trays. Originally envisaged to carry only sandwich trays, the requirements of the trolley were under constant review and Romec supplied several modifications and prototypes. Romec's flexibility in design and open relationship with the customer helped to keep the process moving and has led to an item that carries all manner of food delivery options, is environmentally friendly (the trolleys can be pushed by hand or pulled by bicycle) and folds away for easy storage.
