Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Services

The Challenge

Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Services Ltd (BBISL) is a maintenance provider for the Highways Agency with a number of established contracts. They have depots across the UK and operate 24 hours-a-day, ensuring that roads remain safe and open.

After identifying an urgent security requirement to increase the level of CCTV coverage at their depots, BBISL approached us to examine security at six sites across Hampshire.

The Solution

Our design team proposed a solution involving CCTV systems linked to both BBISL’s control centre and Fire and Security’s Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). In the event of an alarm being activated, both sites would be alerted and the appropriate action taken. Our solution also enabled live images to be simultaneously sent to BBSIL and The ARC. On the strength of this system, we also secured work to install electronic security systems in four additional depots and at the control centre in Kent.

The Results

Since the introduction of the new systems, the level of theft at BBISL depots has fallen, and in one instance, the quick response of Romec resulted in the recovery of a staff vehicle worth in excess of £25,000, and the arrest of a suspect. BBISL chose our services because we could provide them with a practical and cost-sensitive solution that was tailored to their needs. Plus, complete protection and the ability to keep the group one step ahead of any threats.
