Case Study: The Salvation Army
The Challenge
The Salvation Army is the largest provider of social care in the UK and Ireland, after the Government. As a Christian church and registered charity, the Salvation Army provides a variety of social welfare provisions, such as homeless shelters and drug rehabilitation centres.
The Salvation Army owns and manages over 3,500 properties in the UK, including domestic homes, social care centres, churches, educational facilities and office buildings.
After seeing Romec Engineers in action during the cold winter of 2009, the Salvation Army approached Romec’s Building Services Maintenance team to provide statutory test and inspection of the installed gas equipment at 130 commercial properties in West Scotland.

The Solution
Romec’s Building Services Maintenance team
developed a planned maintenance programme
with the Salvation Army and created a solution
perfect for them. The test and inspection at each
site is on a planned preventative regime, including
any remedial works from the planned visits, as well
as providing 24/7 corrective and emergency cover.
The Results
The relationship between Romec and the
Salvation Army is flourishing and if after 12 months
the contract has been a success, Romec will have
the opportunity to expand the service to cover the
remaining 3,000 plus sites throughout the UK.
