History
Originally the Royal Mail Engineering and Construction division of The Post Office, Romec was created in 1989 to provide dedicated facilities and engineering-related services to the Royal Mail Group.
Services included mechanical and electrical installation and maintenance, network communications and security. Romec also manufactured a range of specialist postal equipment for use in the UK and overseas.
During the 1990s we added cleaning and office management services and we began working successfully with other blue-chip organisations.
In 2000 Romec was launched as a fully-fledged facilities management company. Since then we have added big brands such as Marks and Spencer, Camelot and Sainsburys to our portfolio - all enjoying innovation and excellent, national service delivery.
In 2002, a joint venture was created between Balfour Beatty Workplace, part of the Balfour Beatty Group, and Royal Mail.
Following this significant investment, Romec has continued to develop and grow.
Today Romec is one of the very few organisations that can deliver a range of facilities services across a national network.
